Transport in Armenia
Getting Around Armenia
If you are planning to visit Armenia, you will inevitably encounter the country’s transportation system. In recent years, the authorities have started paying more attention to this sector, but there is still plenty of room for improvement.
Public Transport
Armenia is still far from the level of transport accessibility found in major European cities, but getting around the center of Yerevan by public transport is quite convenient.
Metro
The metro operates only in Yerevan.
Currently, the length of the operating metro lines is more than 12 km, with 10 stations in service.
Fare: 100 AMD
Tokens can be purchased at the ticket office near the metro entrance.
Trains arrive approximately every 5 minutes.
Opening hours: daily from 07:00 to 23:00.

Minibuses, Buses, and Trolleybuses
Transport routes and intervals can be checked in the Yandex Go or Yandex Maps applications. However, due to traffic jams in the city, public transport rarely arrives exactly according to the schedule.
A trolleybus ride costs 50 AMD, while buses and minibuses cost 100 AMD.
There are no tickets or a unified electronic payment system. All payments are made in cash directly to the driver.

Air Travel
Armenia has two civilian airports — in Yerevan and Gyumri.
There are many flights available. Updated information can be found on the official airport website (both airports share the same website).
By Car
Driving licenses from countries participating in the Vienna Convention are valid in Armenia.
There is no car-sharing service in the country, but there are many car rental companies.
Road quality varies depending on the city, but overall, the main roads are in fairly good condition.
If your car is sensitive to fuel quality or has a turbo engine/chip tuning, you may encounter difficulties. Most drivers in Armenia prefer gas (LPG) because of the high cost of gasoline.
This has also affected the fuel market: most gas stations are small and have a limited selection of fuel. In many places, they indicate only the fuel type rather than the octane rating.
Among the well-known fuel station brands in Armenia is Shell.
